Janet Machol is the Instrument Scientist for the GOES-R Extreme Ultraviolet and X-Ray Irradiance Sensors (EXIS). Her research is focused on solar irradiance and its influence on the terrestrial upper atmosphere. Prior to working at NOAA NCEI, she developed atmospheric lidars at NOAA. Janet has a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Cornell University and B.A. degrees in Physics and Math from the University of California at Berkeley.
